When transfusion is done, we will make facebook post including picture of pet receiving donation (as long as owner agrees)
Donation days will be determined by AAC and owners will be given ample notice. Potential donors will be dropped off between 8 and 9 am, having fasted from midnight. Owners should allow 20 minutes to get their pet checked in. This includes time to provide a brief history and to sign the sedation form. Each pet will have his/her blood type determined on first visit. Prior to giving blood, the patient’s Packed Cell Volume will be obtained and a brief exam will be done by the doctor on duty. AAC reserves the right to exclude a pet from donating based on its PCV and physical exam. We will text the owner once the patient is in recovery and again when ready to pick up.
