Dr. Allison Conner was born and raised in Madison County, graduating from EKU with a Pre Veterinary major and Chemistry minor. She worked as a veterinary nurse for 7 years and then went to Auburn University. She graduated from Auburn School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 Magna Cum Laude and after working briefly in Lexington, came to Advanced Animal Care in the spring of 2009.
Dr. Conner especially enjoys the mixture of emergency and routine medicine along with surgery. In her spare time she, her husband Rodney, her daughter Amber, and his son Cason enjoy their mini farm, and MANY pets. The Conners also spend a lot of time participating in high school marching band with Amber and in youth basketball programs with Cason. Dr. Conner sees routine appointments several days a week, does spays, neuters and dentals and is always ready for emergencies. Her dedication and talent are immediately apparent and she has touched the lives of thousands of pets and their people!
Dr. Kevin Simmons was born in West Long Branch, New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Stockton College in New Jersey in 2005. He undertook his veterinary studies at Tuskegee University in Alabama , earning his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with Summa Cum Laude in May of 2010. Before graduating, Kevin completed two externships, one at the San Diego Zoo and the other at the Bronx Zoo. After graduating, he completed a small animal surgical and emergency internship at CARES, a referral and emergency veterinary hospital outside Philadelphia, PA. After his internship, he worked as an associate veterinarian at Columbus Central Veterinary Hospital which is a small animal emergency clinic located in Columbus, New Jersey. During this time, he also volunteered his time and services at a local zoo in New Jersey.
While attending veterinary school Dr. Simmons met his wife Heather who was born and raised in Lexington, KY. They currently have an eight month old baby boy named Liam and are blessed to have another on the way. They have moved back to Kentucky to settle down and be closer to family. Dr. Simmons enjoys developing close personal relationships with his clients and their beloved pets. He has special interest in exotics, orthopedics, and soft tissue surgery. Outside of work, he enjoys working on cars, fishing, and spending time with his wife Heather, son Liam, their two Huskies and a Boxer-Daca, Keeley and Gunner!
Dr. Abby Crane is a native of the Knoxville, TN area. She attended undergrad at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (go Vols!) where she graduated with a major in animal science and a minor in biology. She then attended veterinary school at Tuskegee University where she graduated Cum Laude. Before graduating, Dr. Crane completed multiple externships at equine and small animal veterinary referral/specialty hospitals in the U.S., including Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Louisville, KY, Texas Equine Hospital in Bryan, TX among others.
Dr. Crane’s interests include emergency/critical care, equine general practice, soft tissue surgery, and ophthalmology. In addition to her work at AAC, she also finds time to go on the occasional horse call. Outside of work, her interests include riding her horses, hiking with her 3 dogs, and spending time with her family.
